PRIVATE SECTOR CAPABILITY BUILDING

We help companies and other organisations to achieve greater outcomes for Māori while building their kaupapa Māori capability.

We believe that our key role is to help our clients shape their greatest vision, aims and projected outcomes, and create a roadmap to achieve their aspirations. We work in partnership with other organisations to create new pathways and opportunities for our clients.

Our partnerships range from working with leading design thinking agencies to development companies, to Universities and Research Institutes. We enter into these partnerships where we can see that the strength of coming together will benefit the people on the ground.

CASE STUDIES

Teacher Readiness Programme

  • Client: Ministry of Education
  • Partnered with:  Cantebury University, Core Education, Kia Atamai Educational Trust, DTTA – Digital Technologies Teachers Aotearoa, Te Papa
  • Mission: Deliver a teacher digital readiness programme for Digital Technologies/ Hangarau Matihiko to schools nationwide.
  • Outcome: Kaiako felt empowered to teach Digital Technologies/ Hangarau Matihiko nation-wide.

The teacher readiness was focussed on supporting kaiako and teachers in both Māori and English medium schools to understand the revised Digital Technologies – Hangarau Matihiko curriculum. The purpose of the readiness programme was to ensure kaiako feel confident to teach the curriculum so that our tamariki know how technology works, how to code, using computational thinking to solve problems and ultimately prepare learners for the ever changing digital world.

The programme was delivered through facilitated workshops across the country and AATEA focussed their efforts in Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Whanganui and Te Rāwhiti. During the Covid-19 lockdown, workshops converted to be online and online support sessions were created to support teachers as they began to implement new curriculum materials. In addition to this, AATEA developed online resources to enhance the learning process.
